Penryn-based start-up Codices, which was formed on Falmouth University’s Launchpad programme, have recruited eight new members of staff, taking their team of three to eleven.
Codices, which develops live interactive online gameshows, secured $800,000 of seed funding, led by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Investment Fund (CIOSIF) and Haatch Ventures in the summer, which has enabled them to expand.
The company have seen a stellar year with strong month-on-month growth for their most popular tool, Quiz Kit, which serves over 1.5m monthly viewers and boasts over 7k broadcasters. This expansion will allow them to innovate their offering and take on more clients.
Tim Edwards, Codices CEO and Co-Founder, explained: “We’ve been incredibly lucky in that we’ve always had more work than we can deliver. Over the last few months, we’ve taken on software developers, a content team and a business development manager.
“It’s been an interesting challenge, we’ve had to update our processes to manage a bigger team but we’re now seeing the benefits in that we can do more quicker, we’ve improved our tech, we’ve got new projects in the pipeline including one with Amazon Prime, and we’re launching a new product in the new year.”
The company have also taken advantage of the current situation and tapped into the UK’s talent pool to recruit.
“We’ve always been happy to work remotely and felt it’s better to go with the times as we scale up. Six of us are based in Cornwall and five are UK-wide,” added Tim.
