The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) seeks to reflect the importance of the Agri-food sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Local partners worked with DEFRA to help shape the new Rural Development Programme. It is important to recognise that the funding available is significantly less than Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly received in previous rounds.

The Growth Programme is supporting projects that create or grow micro and small businesses in rural areas. The aim of the funding is to grow the economy of rural areas and create new jobs.
Also aiming to address the root causes of poverty which create barriers to work so more people move closer or into employment through active inclusion.
Business Development grants are for capital investments that create or grow micro and small businesses in rural areas. The aim is to grow the economy of rural areas and create new jobs.
The first call, which closed in May 2018, made grants available to small rural businesses, including farmers who wanted to diversify. The funding is helping to pay for things like constructing or improving buildings and buying new equipment and machinery. Grants of £50,000 to €200,000 (approx £170,000) were available in Cornwall and £10,000 to €200,000 on the Isles of Scilly.
Rural Tourism Infrastructure grants are for capital investments that create or grow micro and small businesses in rural areas. The aim of this funding is to encourage more tourists to come, to stay and to spend more money in rural areas.
Funding for farmers to purchase equipment to improve the productivity of their farm.
