According to statistics from Parkinson’s UK, there are around 145,000 people living with Parkinson’s Disease in the UK and 5-10% of people who live in care homes have the neurological condition.*

Parkinson’s Disease is a neurological condition that causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. There are three main symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease which are a tremor, stiffness and slowness of movement, but other symptoms can be experienced. Medication is important for management of symptoms and can particularly affect person’s risk of falling, Parkinson’s Disease medication must be given at very specific times and can reduce freezing as well as reduce someone’s risk of falls.

The session will be developed and led by Jacqui Chamberlain, Parkinson’s Disease Nurse Specialist, St Austell Community Hospital.
