European Social Funding has been invested in a project that will help people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to enhance their career pathways.  The investment is part of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Programme.

The “I Can” project, which is being delivered by CSW Group, is an enhancement to the service delivered under the National Careers Service.  It will provide high quality information, advice and guidance regarding career pathways to increase participation in further education and learning, including Apprenticeships.  A skilled team of advisors will provide individuals with advice on training and skills in the workplace and deliver services in conjunction with employers.

Eligible participants include anyone who is employed or unemployed if recently redundant, or where participants require advanced or higher level skills to gain employment. All participants must be aged 25 or above.

Julian German Cornwall Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economy, said, “This investment is excellent news and I really pleased we have secured this important work to support the workforce in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.  Developing skills for employment are traditionally seen as something you do at a young age in school or college but, with today’s rapidly changing industries it’s really important we give support to everyone who wants to develop their career.”

Paul Hobson, Chief Executive of CSW said, “As the South West’s leading provider of careers support and provision for more than 20 years, we are delighted to have won this contract. We look forward to using our expertise in building positive partnerships with local and regional employers; to raise workforce skills that will have a positive impact on the competitiveness of the County’s businesses and increase the prosperity of its people.”
