Cornwall Chamber delivered the Connected Cornwall 2016 event at Healy’s Cider Farm on Thursday 10th November. Opened by George Eustice MP, who spoke about export opportunities for the UK and Cornwall, the event brought together businesses in Cornwall that are experienced in export as well as those looking to take the first steps into export and business growth.

A series of workshops, led by guest speakers, were available to delegates throughout the day providing advice and guidance on a successful move into export. Guest speakers included Julian Hughes of Rodda’s cream who talked the audience through the opportunities they are enjoying in China. In China “High Tea” is a very fashionable experience and Rodda’s cream is making the most of being the cream on the table.

Via a live Skype link, the conference spoke to Johnathan Jones, MD of Tregothnan Trading in Japan. Here too there is a growing market for tea that the Tregothnan estate in Cornwall are making the most of and enjoying business growth.

The Growth Programme team spoke to business representatives at the event about the business support functions that are available through European funding. The ERDF funded Growth Hub team and their Connectors and Navigators were on hand as the first point of contact for businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The event was very positive with lots of enthusiastic conversations taking place throughout the day which in time will yield business growth, job security and job increases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
