HomeCase StudiesTechnology company grows with support from Superfast Business Cornwall
Datasharp UK Limited is a Cornwall based technology company, providing businesses throughout the UK with advice, solutions and support.
The company was established in the 1980s and has constantly remained at the forefront of business technology solutions. They employ experts who focus on Voice, Connectivity, IT, Photocopiers and Infrastructure, and can count amongst their customers local businesses such as Skinners Brewery, Truro High School for Girls and Goonhilly Earth Station. Nationally they work with the likes of Ocean BMW and St Austell Brewery. They pride themselves on providing great customer satisfaction and this has earned them 36 customer care awards from organisations such as Microsoft and Unify.
The business approached Superfast Business Cornwall as they wanted to develop a cloud-based software system collating business data which can be used anywhere on an internet ready device – the idea being ‘your office is where you are’, at a low monthly cost to the small to medium sized business customer.
Working with Digital Business Enabler Mike Robertson, Datasharp put together an application for grant funding towards the costs of developing their product. The application was reviewed by Superfast Business Cornwall’s Expert Panel, made up of South West based business professionals, who believed the project was worth the investment as they saw it as a good strategic development for Datasharp.
Speaking about being awarded the grant funding, Paul Hayes, Head of Finance said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Datasharp to develop a new solution that over time we can tailor to have a “good fit” into many industries.
The new service will be complemented by our existing portfolio of technologies and will allow us to continue providing solutions that meet our end customers growing technology and data needs.
The project will also allow for the expansion of our services resulting in the creation of new full time permanent jobs within Cornwall.”
Mike continued to work with the company throughout the time of the funded project, regularly meeting with the company and ensuring they kept to timescale and achieved what they set out to do.
As Mike explains …
“Datasharp is a great company to support, with dedicated and highly skilled staff supporting other businesses, both locally and nationally. This project has resulted in growth for them as they have taken on new staff and, once developed, their product will meet the needs of smaller businesses which can only be of benefit to Cornwall overall.”
Development of the product is ongoing, and a beta release of the system is road mapped for 2019.
Datasharp has created 10 new jobs as part of their business expansion since 2016 and their new service will secure and create more high value, highly skilled jobs in Cornwall.
