HomeCase StudiesMappix – new software for teachers to track pupil progress
Mappix, created by teacher Charity Wilson, will help reduce teachers’ workload and support children’s learning. The company has developed a cloud-based, assessment software platform, which will help teachers communicate pupil progress in a clear and understandable manner for parents and manage their reporting more efficiently.
When she first made contact with the Superfast Business Cornwall, Charity was looking to review her digital strategy.
The Superfast Business Cornwall service offers a 12 hour programme of support to help ambitious businesses exploit digital technology to reach new markets, reduce costs and increase productivity. The programme is delivered via a blend of workshops, expert advice and guidance from a Digital Business Adviser and Masterclasses or 1-2-1 support from ICT specialists in the private sector.
The 12 hours of support that Mappix received included a 1 to 1 session with Digital Business Adviser Dan Piper, it covered digital marketing and driving traffic to the Mappix website using Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and key words.
Charity attended the project’s annual showcase event Connect to the Future at Goonhilly Earth Station. A full day including a keynote on the opportunities and applications of emerging technologies, a workshop on Collaboration technology, speakers on Artificial Intelligence and networking opportunities. She also took part in a Women in Business workshop focussed on branding for the digital world.
Digital Business Adviser Paul Bartell gave a comprehensive review of the Mappix website using the results of the specialist analytical software. He talked Charity through the report in the context of her business looking in depth at specific areas including: Search Engine Optimisation, content and social media, giving practical recommendations like how to create a linking strategy.
Charity came away with lots of useful actions, practical tips and recommendations to increase the effectiveness of the site.
The programme offers all businesses engaged with the service a free website review, which is proving very popular and has been taken up by more than 190 businesses.
Charity says, “Working with Superfast Business Cornwall has been invaluable because of the broad experience and expertise of the Business Advisers. I feel much more confident about my approach to digital marketing and the next steps to building my business.”
