Cornish businesses are being urged to adopt digital technologies to grow their businesses in 2017 at Superfast Business Cornwall’s event ‘Tech for Growth 2017’ on Thursday 1 December at Wadebridge.
Superfast Business Cornwall has announced its first big event ‘Tech for Growth 2017’. The fully funded one day conference is part of its new service to help small to medium sized businesses boost their competitiveness through increased understanding and exploitation of digital technology. The day will be aimed at helping eligible SMEs based in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly understand, adopt and exploit digital technologies and takes place at The Pavilion Centre, Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge on Thursday 1 December.
The keynote speakers for the event will be Jon Hogg, Chief Marketing Officer at blur Group, who will look at the concrete business benefits of weaving technology into business processes and Nick Orme, Chief Executive Officer at ITEC a managed service company supplying copiers, printers and MFDs to a wide range of industries across the UK. Nick will be sharing his business’s experience of migrating to the Cloud and how it benefited the company.
ITEC have recently worked with the Sahara Force One India Formula 1 team and have arranged for an F1 race car simulator to be available on the day to reinforce the idea of embracing technology to stay competitive.
There will also be workshops run by Josh Hoole from Superfast Business Cornwall covering how to exploit digital technologies for productivity and growth and Agile Business Coach Belinda Waldock who will look at how an Agile approach can help sustain growth during periods of technological change within a business.
Sebeail Fowell, Programme and Partnership Manager for the project said
“Cornwall is the best connected rural area in Europe for Superfast Broadband so we want to run an event to capitalise on this roll out which will focus on the practical business benefits of Superfast Broadband and how businesses can best use digital technology to grow and remain competitive in 2017.
“The event will suit small and medium sized enterprises who want to explore how to make technology work for them, are interested in improving their use of existing technologies and want to plan for maximising technology in the future.”
The event will give Cornish businesses the opportunity to access one to one advice from the Superfast Business Cornwall project’s Business Advisors and network with other businesses and ICT specialists in the exhibition area.
Nick Orme CEO of ITEC said
“We are thrilled to be able to take part in ‘Tech for Growth 2017’ with Superfast Business Cornwall. I look forward to sharing my company’s experiences of journeying to the Cloud with businesses and as part of ITEC’s work with the Sahara Force India Formula 1 team am pleased to be able to offer our F1 Simulator for a bit of fun during the networking part of the day. This just goes to show that digital technology can change the face of all types of business including motor racing. ”
The event is part of a tailored programme of high quality information, advice and digital development which aims to help businesses develop a strategy for growth that utilises the latest in digital technology.
The service is for eligible SMEs based in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and will run from June 2016 to March 2019. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the service is delivered by Peninsula Enterprise, national market leaders in the provision of Superfast Broadband focused business support.
